Online school for children?

Traditionally seen as a site for students and graduates seeking a degree or recognized professionals to enrich their careers online schools are touted for their convenience, accessibility and cost savings for adult workers. But the online curriculum for children are becoming a fixture in the K-12 education.
As part of its plan for the class of 2020, the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SetData) identifies the crucial role that schools have on-line for children in grades K-12.
In his study, “Learning Virtually: more opportunities,” says SetData since November 2008, 44 states have online tutorials. And a survey of 2004-2005 showed that 37 percent of school districts has been granted access to online education, a public high school with the highest level of online registration.

But there are skeptics. In May 2009 U.S. Department of Education (DOE) review of studies on the effectiveness of online learning, “Assessment of practice-based learning,” showed that only a very limited number (five) rigorous studies of the effectiveness of online learning for students K-12 education compared to face-to-face. In addition, DOE indicates that policymakers should exercise caution when generalization of positive experiences of learning online adult education K-12.
In response to DOE’s analysis, some educators say that teaching in face-to-face is invaluable for students K-12. Teachers often rely on nonverbal cues, behavior and expressions of young students learn to discern the extent to which a subject.
